Who we are

Accounting Technicians Ireland is the leading professional body for Accounting Technicians on the island of Ireland. We educate, support and represent over 10,000 people working in the profession.

Established in 1983, we pride ourselves on providing an internationally recognised business qualification and on promoting the highest educational, technical and ethical standards to our members.

Our qualification differs from many other academic programmes as it combines professional exams with practical work experience. Members are entitled to put the letters MIATI after their name.

Accounting Technicians Ireland is a not-for-profit organisation and all our revenues are continually reinvested for the benefit of our members.

We are a partner body of Chartered Accountants Ireland and an associate member of the International Federation of Accountants. We have offices in Dublin and Belfast and links with local networks throughout Ireland.

Our qualification

The Diploma for Accounting Technicians is designed to address the strong market need in all Irish sectors for qualified Accounting Technician professionals, and also to support the continuing development of those already in employment.

Our syllabus has been carefully designed to equip graduate with an array of transferable business skills, as well as technical knowledge of finance and accountancy practice.

Ultimately, the qualification increases employment opportunities for a broad range of accounting and finance roles and will enable you to progress to senior financial management at a later stage in your career.
